Thanks to your votes, we won $1,000!
We won first place (again!) in Alaska in the Animal Rescue Site and Petfinder's Shelter Challenge. The money will be used to make much-needed repairs to our Adoption Center. Click here to see the results.
Support H.R. 3501:
The Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (“HAPPY”) Act is a federal bill that would amend U.S. tax code to allow qualifying pet care expenses, to be tax-deductible, up to $3,500 per year. Click here to learn more and to send an email to Representative Young.
Rescued dogs now at AK SPCA:
Seven
dogs rescued from the
Kenai Peninsula are now part of the AK SPCA family and recovering at our Adoption Center. Many
thanks to board member Bob Sutherland, Dr. Gerald Nybakken of
Peninsula Veterinary Clinic, and Tony and Sherri Bess of Homer Animal
Shelter, for securing and transporting the dogs. Donations to support these sweet Malamutes are very much appreciated! Click here to learn how you can help and be sure to check back here for updates.
Anti-cruelty bills in AK Legislature:
Please write to your Representative in Juneau to express your support for HB 6 and HB 138 – two bills that help protect Alaska's animals. For more information, click here.
Adoption Center gets fresh coat of paint
Thank you to Turner Rodgers of the Eagle Scouts in Anchorage for his labor, to ConocoPhillips Alaska,
Inc., for the $500 community grant in support of Turner's
project, and to Steve Wurtz, for donating the paint.
With our "Pairs Program," the Alaska SPCA pays the adoption fee of one cat when a long-term pair of cats at Anchorage Animal Care & Control Center
is adopted together to the same home – perfect if you’re looking for two cats
that already get along well.
Fix-a-Feline was a great success!
Our
Mobile Spay/Neuter Van was at several locations around
Anchorage this summer for our annual low- or no-cost spay/neuter program. Click here for information.
